Pray in Islam- How to Pray

Prayers or Praying in Islam are two different things but hold immense value in terms of religious rituals and spirituality but people often mix them in communication, creating confusion among people between these two, therefore it is necessary to understand the both for effective output, no matter if its communication or religious practices.

Prayer / Offering Prayer (Salah/نماز)

Whenever you heard the term that someone is offering prayer, that does not mean that he is praying (دعا) to God regarding something, it means that he is offering prayer or Salah/نماز. This is a simple yet technical thing to interpret easily which should not be confused with that general prayer you can make whenever you want, but its for Salah which you have to offer in accordance with times and conditions of the school of thought followed by you or your family. But it is important that you offer it no matter how you offer salah or how you pray, unless you are ill or sick, or not in condition to report to your creator, you should, because the God knows the secrets of hearts. Offering prayers 5 times a day or whenever possible for you is necessary because it maintain the relation between man and his creator and it is among most emphasize things in Islam. Being spiritually strong in relation with Allah is another thing but yes, it does help maintain a stronger relation with the creator as you directly bow down to him daily to show your allegiance.

How to pray in Islam?

The style of offering prayer in the religion depends on your school of thought, which school you follow. There are various schools in Islam and 2 major sects, Shia and Sunni who offer prayers accordingly with minimal differences, the most notable difference can be of locking hands between Shia and Sunnis as Shias keep their hands open while praying while Sunnis lock their hands while praying but most common thing is that they pray to the their Lord. Also another common part is they pray together (Altogether/باجماعت نماز) which has been emphasized by the Holy Prophet (PBHU). Another common difference is of the timings, while the Sunnis offer Salah separately, Shia’s don’t. Sunnis offer prayers in 5 times while Shia can offer prayers in 3 times, Fajr independent, Zuhar Asar and Maghrib Isha together with minimal time difference. This practice is also verified from Islam and Holy Prophet (PBUH). Again the main argument is that A Muslim should offer Salah daily this is what is the most important part is.

How to pray in Islam to God (Allah)

Prayer or praying in Islam to God is one of the most sincere ways of connection to Allah. It is among the top 3 things which shows you, only you, your spiritual relation to God. These three are

1. Prayer

2. Gratitude

3. Repentance

The prayers shows that you have firm faith in God (Allah) about yourself, your life, you destiny, your everything and you consider him the ultimate master of your fate which forces you to pray to him. It is also said that praying after Salah is necessary else it literally means that you haven’t offered fully. It is also sunnah to pray to God before opening your fast by Iftar as God really wants the person fasting to pray. It is also important to mention to pray for your parents as it helps and increases the acceptance of prayers.
